Question #43: Song lyrics

How do songwriters come up with their lyrics? They are all so random. For example, the chorus of the son I'm listening to right now is:

You've gotta spend some time love, you've gotta spend some time with me. And i know that you'll find love, I will posses your heart...

I love this song, but to me, this is not a normal human-y train of thought...
